Pauline Martha Kulstad-González has a B.A. in Latin American Studies and Anthropology from Macalester College in Minnesota (USA); a Masters in Latin American Studies from the University of Florida (concentration Archaeology) (USA); and a PhD in Archaeology from Leiden University (The Netherlands).

Her work has focused mainly on translating and interpreting (English/Spanish), and undertaking “on-the-ground” research and logistics for various international commercial and educational organizations. These include: Green & Blacks (UK); NEXUS1492 (EU/Netherlands); Episcopal Church (USA), and the Florida Museum of Natural History (USA). Her publications include: Hispaniola - Hell or Home? Decolonizing Grand Narratives about Intercultural Interactions at Concepción de la Vega (1494-1564); Striking It Rich in the Americas’ First Boom Town: Economic Activity at Concepción de la Vega (Hispaniola) 1495-1564, in Archaeology of Culture Contact and Colonialism in Spanish and Portuguese America, Pedro Paulo A.Funari and María Ximena Senatore (eds.)(2015); and Interacción y organización social en el período colonial temprano: el caso de la Concepción de la Vega (1495-1564)(2012). She has also translated several manuscripts, including, A Guide to Amphibians and Reptiles of Cusuco National Park, Honduras, by Josiah Townsend and Larry David Wilson (2006).
