Dr. van Velthem is a Brazilian Anthropologist and Museologist serving as a researcher and curator of the ethnographic collection at the Museum Paraense Emilio Goeldi (MCITI) in Belém. She is a founding board member of the Iepé - Instituto de Pesquisa e Formação Indígena, and the lead coordinator for the Brazilian branch of the Amazonian Museum Network (MAR).
